Hataitai Garage Sale and Market - take two!

We are doing it again in March! After our February  Garage sale and market we got loads of requests for another as people missed out coming along and also booking a space on the Village green. With new stall holders and different things for re-using, re-reading, re-wearing, re-playing, re-potting, re-decoration… you get it. So book a space or just come along with your family and friends and enjoy the day on the Village Green.

Christmas on the Green & Christmas Fete Market

Christmas on the Village Green and Christmas Market was a fun day with loads of families and residents out enjoying the sun and entertainment.  The kids made the most of the green, scooter circuit and of course Santa’s lolly scramble. The egg and spoon races had heaps of kids involved and heaps of boiled eggs were cracked.

The Samoan Methodist Church Choir sang beautiful Samoan Christmas carols and Zanos filled the air with his bagpipe music and violin.

Predator Free Mt Vic sold traps and the Weta Motels were also available. Louise gave away free seeds and pots for the Grow a Garden initiative.

Thank you to the many stall holders offering different types of food, crafts, books, jewellery and more. And the sausage sizzle was  a success.

A big thanks from the Play Group to Matt for sponsoring the bouncy castle. We even had some adults sneak on for a bounce or two.

Hataitai Intersection - Results of Engagement Survey

In September the Wellington City Council asked for your feedback on the proposal to install traffic lights and signals at the Hataitai crossroads of Moxham Avenue, Hataitai Road and Waitoa Road. The reason for the proposed change is to improve safety for pedestrians, motorcyclists, cyclists and drivers.

WCC received 784 responses to the questionnaire, of which 82% were from residents. The majority of respondents were opposed to traffic lights but there were high levels of concern about the safety of the intersection.

The results from the engagement survey can be viewed here

Officers are now considering other options based on the submissions received, and it is expected in March next year to re-engage with the community on the preferred option(s)
