What's on at the Community House
The Hataitai Community House is a space for the whole community to use. This page tells you all about the different groups that meet regularly at the Community House, and how to contact them if you want to get involved.

This is a community language group for speakers of Spanish. Provides the opportunity to celebrate the Spanish language and culture amongst the Spanish speaking families living in Wellington. All parents are involved in the group’s activities, which celebrate the different countries that our families come from. The activities involve music, food games, and storytelling. Parents are welcome to join anytime and can contact the President for more information.

Hataitai Community Playgroup is a MOE accredited playgroup that has been running for over 20 years in Hataitai. The playgroup is for all children from 0-5 and has a dedicated coordinator that organises activities for children of all ages.

Where: Hataitai Community House
These classes are for children who have been learning French for at least 2-3 years. This is not a beginners class and for children in Year 4 – Year 8. The activities in our structured courses are stimulating and engaging. They include storytelling, drama, crafts and many fun songs and games.
Our informal and friendly classes provide the best and safest environment for children to develop their self-esteem and self-confidence. Young children have no inhibitions and starting using the language straight away.

At Matairangi Kindergarten in Hataitai we focus on providing education and care for children aged 18 months to three years. Our approach is one of free-play learning; children choose from a variety of experiences and activities, including music, paints, water, messy play, collage, sand, and many more.

Plunket provides well child and family and whānau health support services.
We offer you information, support and developmental assessments of your child at varying stages between birth and 5 years.
Plunket visits are an integral part of our service to New Zealand families. Part of our care includes home visits for babies in the early weeks, and then clinic or further home visits for children up to 5 years old.

Sakura is a playgroup for children aged 0 to 5 who are pre-school children.
All session are done in Japanese, so they have the opportunity to learn Japanese and become familiar with Japanese culture.

This is a group for those people who live in Hataitai and work from home. It’s a chance to meet up once a month and chat with others who work from home while enjoying a hot drink in a warm room.

Wellington Multiples members and volunteers have been supporting multiple families for more than 30 years. We provide support, education and friendship as you experience the joys and challenges of raising multiples.
This playgroup is run once a month for members of the Wellington Multiples group.
When: Every Saturday 10:30- 11:45am
Where: Hataitai Community House, 112 Waipapa Road, Hataitai, Wellington - Upstairs in the Community Room
Anyone concerned about someone else’s drinking is welcome to walk in and attend our meetings. Bookings or referrals are not required. Al-Anon Family Groups in New Zealand were established since 1954 and there are over 90 groups countrywide. Our program of recovery is adapted from Alcoholics Anonymous and is based upon The Twelve Steps, Twelve Traditions and Twelve Concepts of Service. Al-Anon Family Groups are spiritually based. Al-Anon Family Groups are an anonymous fellowship, so what is said in a meeting is held in confidence and your anonymity is protected.
