Proposal for an electric vehicle charging station on Marewa Road

Wellington City Council are consulting on adding an electric vehicle charging station on Marewa Road.

It's one of 34 EV charging spots they're currently consulting on, as part of a trial of at least 50 electric vehicle on-street charging points for residents who cannot charge up at home.

The trial is to encourage the uptake of electric vehicles by Wellington City residents who can’t charge on their own property. Around one in four Wellington residents cannot charge at home, which limits the adoption of electric vehicles in the capital. On-street residential charging has not been tried anywhere else in New Zealand, so this project is to help the council learn how an initiative like this can work.
