Level 1 Guidelines
Cabinet will decide on Monday 8 June whether and when to move to Alert Level 1. Until then, Alert Level 2 measures apply.
Alert Level 1 is still not quite life as normal. We must remember we remain in a global pandemic.
Here’s what you need to know:
Everyone is able to return to work, school, sports and travel domestically
You can get together with as many family and friends as you want.
Controls at the borders remain for those entering New Zealand (i.e. health screening, testing for all arrivals, and mandatory 14-day managed quarantine or isolation).
The Alert Level 1 “rules”:
· If you’re sick, stay home. Don’t go to work or school. Don’t socialise.
· If you have cold or flu symptoms call your doctor or Healthline and make sure you get tested.
· Keep up basic hygiene measures - washing your hands regularly, cough or sneezing into your elbow, and disinfect high contact surfaces regularly.
· Physical distancing when out and about among strangers is a good habit to keep up.
· If you are told by health authorities to self-isolate you must do so immediately.
· Keep track of where you’ve been and who you’ve seen to help contact tracing if needed. Use the NZ COVID Tracer app as a handy way of doing this.
· Stay vigilant. There is still a global pandemic going on. People and businesses should be prepared to act fast to step up Alert Levels if we have to.
