Level 2 - from Thursday 14 May

On Monday 11 May the Government announced we will move to Level 2 from Thursday 14 May in a staged way. Until then all Alert Level 3 guidance and restrictions apply.

In level 2:

  • Businesses such as restaurants, malls, cinemas, shops, health services, and hairdressers may re-open on Thursday 14 May

  • Domestic Travel will be allowed from Thursday 14 May.

  • Monday 18 May schools may resume.

  • On Thursday 21 May, bars may re-open if they can follow health guidelines.

  • Social gatherings of no more than 10 are allowed

  • Restrictions on social gatherings will be reviewed in two weeks’ time.

  • No requirement for masks on public transport or PPE for the public in the public realm - however it may be sensible to do so if you can do so safely.

  • As always maintain social distancing, stay home if sick and practice personal hygiene, keep track of where you have been and who you have been with, if you are feeling sick, call the Health Line 0800 358 5453.

It is not life as normal - restrictions and other measures remain in place to reduce the risk of transmission. These new rules will be reviewed in two weeks time on May 25.

Stay safe, stay well.
