Important Changes to the Hataitai Community Spaces

Changes to your Community Spaces in response to the new COVID-19 Protection Framework

On Friday 3 December 2021, New Zealand moved to the new COVID-19 Protection Framework (traffic lights), to guide the next phase of managing COVID-19 in our communities.

In response to the new framework, management, trustees and committee members governing the Hataitai community buildings have been working together to agree on a plan for your community spaces from Friday 3 December.

With the expectation that there is likely to be some level of COVID-19 in the wider community, it has been agreed, in the best interests of our community and the continuation of community services, that we will follow the My Vaccine Pass requirements established under this framework. As such, a valid My Vaccine Pass will be required, of everyone aged 12 and over, to enter the following community buildings;

Hataitai Community House, 112 Waipapa Road

Hataitai Centre & Village Green, former bowling club, 157 Hataitai Road

As a result all users and visitors to the Hataitai Community buildings and green will be required to have a verified My Vaccine Pass prior to entering these community spaces. That includes all regular, casual, first time and one-off users. So whether you attend a regular class, are popping along for the monthly market, or helping run an event please be prepared for someone to ask to verify your My Vaccine Pass before or during your time in the Hataitai community buildings. Kindly keep your My Vaccine Pass, in a digital or paper format, handy at all times. We also ask that if you don’t enter the Village Green when you can see a private function happening at the Hataitai Centre. All private and public events are subject to My Vaccine Pass requirements and hirers are responsible for managing the guest list!

This new approach does provide more freedom for businesses, education, clubs, events and gatherings within our community buildings. Below is a summary of the traffic light framework for our buildings when the My Vaccine Pass is used at all times. Please be aware that Wellington will be moving to “orange” on Friday 3 December. The Government will manage traffic light settings and may announce a change to Wellington’s setting from time to time. Please follow the “current” setting guidelines at all times;

Our requirements have been based on the current information and with consideration of public health recommendations, government and Wellington City Council guidelines. We will continue to keep up to date with advice, and review and adapt our requirements as needed.
