Hataitai has a Pātaka Kai!
Located at the Hataitai Community House, by the Arcus Way entrance to the Waipapa Rd Playground. We are delighted to open our very own Pātaka Kai!
Supported by the Wellington Airport and the Hataitai Fruit and Vege Co-Op we hope the free pantry will reduce food waste in our community and provide support for those in need in our community.
What is a Pātaka Kai/Free Pantry?
A Pātaka Kai/Free Pantry is a box or location where you can donate or receive free food, it is open to everyone in the community and you are encouraged to give what you can and take what you need. The goal is to reduce food waste, help fight food poverty and connect people to their community.
There are a few guidelines such as only donating food items and only items that have not yet expired.
So if you have excess feijoa’s, apples, tins of things you don’t need, please help keep our Pātaka Kai full.
If you own a business and would like to get involved please get in touch!
